APPLICATION FOR GRANTS

The Thorsten and Elsa Segerfalk Foundation supports research on the nervous system and its disorders at Lund University.

The Foundation hereby announces grants for 2024.

Grants will be awarded for running costs, apparatuses and salary for specified research projects.

The Segerfalk Foundation annually awards approximately 850,000 SEK for brain research at Lund University. Usually 5 to 9 different applicants receive grants from 60,000 up to 200,000 SEK each. Those who win one of the grants and/or wins a prize for best poster or best oral presentation at Neuro Science Day will furthermore have the opportunity to arrange a half day work shop during the autumn for students at the level of upper secondary education (in Swedish: ‘gymnasieelever’) and the Thorsten and Elsa Segerfalk board members.

Applications will be processed according to Swedish Research Council standards and assessed by a panel of five researcher and clinicians with expertise in different aspects of neuroscience. Particular attention will be paid to the Foundations policy to primarily support postdoctoral researchers in an early phase of their scientific career. The Segerfalk Foundation defines “early phase of scientific career” as no more than 7 years of active research time, please show in your CV if there are any research gaps (for example parental leave, working as a clinician, or other) if it is more than 7 years since your dissertation. When you write your application, please bear in mind that it should be adjusted to a broad panel of reviewers within neuroscience.

Applications must be completed and sent no later than March 11th at 14:00.

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for grants. The application should be submitted electronically, not on paper. If you wish to change a previously submitted application, the application may be resubmitted before deadline. In case of problems, please contact Linda Eliasson (Linda.Eliasson@med.lu.se).

Please note
